My work is created with a combination of traditional mixed media and Procreate, using watercolour, acrylic inks and photographic textures. I also draw and paint on that old fashioned stuff (paper).
I’ve lived with chronic illness for over thirty years so it’s taken me a long time to reach this creative point in my life. I became ill and bedridden for over a decade. Then I spent time as an electric wheelchair user, before progressing to mobility scooters and walking aids. These days I still have to manage my illness, which causes both physical and mental fatigue. I also have difficulty maintaining an upright posture, so I make most of my artwork lying down. Now you know why I like to include disability in some of my art!
You also might notice a reoccurring theme of magical imagery. I’ve thought about this, and I blame C S Lewis. He made me quietly obsessed with entering another world and I’ve never wanted to leave.
